Settling in to Thailand has been relatively uneventful besides finding a house to rent, starting a teaching job at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, scrambling to finish my M.A., and running to Laos for a visa. Never mind wedding planning. I have this recurring dream that tomorrow is the big day and we are still venue-less.

Although I miss homes (the U.S. and now China), and have occasional spasms of panic and stress, I am certainly happy to be here.

Tricked you, didn't I? Chiang Mai is a few hundred miles from the beach.

| The flora, and the dharma? |
One time I wanted to cook for L., but it was taking way too long, so he helped me. The story goes like this:
I wanted to make ravioli from scratch ....even the ricotta. The ricotta turned out fine, but the pasta was terrible. I messed things up bad when i tried to squish the flour into the volcano of egg and oil; it went all over the counter and L. was like, 'don't do it that way.' So, I did it again, and this time it went on the floor....so we had to add more egg and oil, but who knows if the quantities were right. Then, because we don't have a rolling pin, we tried to roll it out by glass bottle, but it was pulling in on itself, and I didn't roll it thin enough, and then i put way too much of the filling on some spots, and then i put them in all weird spots so that when we tired to make the packets, the filling squished all over the place. We ended up with raviolis that were the size of Antarctica. And then they GREW in the WATER! So we had these really gross things...the dough was way too thick and chewy, and there wasn't enough salt......blaahhhh How will I ever be a good wife? !?!?!?!

| And plenty of room for you to visit! You can even have your own bathroom!!! |
I like the flora, fauna, and dharma. That is quite clever. It's possible that you won't make a very good Italian wife, but there are plenty of ethnicities for you still to choose from. You'll find one!
